Our small blue globe is the only one of its type in our solar system, well, at least that's what we assume, granted that we identify so little about the great expanse of space beyond our planet. But before this piece turns into some sci-fi lecture about alien life, intergalactic robots, and what not, for the time being let's just concentrate on what we know, that the Earth is the only one with life in it.

From all the balls of gas and rock in the infinite galaxies in our universe, why our planet? What is so extraordinary about this white, green, tan, and blue chunk of rock that it is able to sustain life? And, why are we here in the first place? Well, to begin with, it may take more than a couple of lifetimes to figure that riddle out and secondly, I am asking way too many queries. The main thing is that we're here now, and we exist because of Earth's ideal environment.

I cannot speak for all of mankind, but in my opinion, this is reason enough to be very thankful for the gift of life that we have received. This is certainly why we should appreciate the fact that we exist, and we are experiencing all the amazing things that life entails. We wake up everyday to learn new things, go through a variety of emotions, and create beautiful memories with the people that we love. And there is no better way to preserve these memories than getting them preserved eternally in a photo.

And one of the most special, if not the most special memory worth preserving, is the start of life itself, from the womb, to the birth of the infant, and her or his most fragile first years. That's probably why categories of photography like maternity photography and baby photography are becoming one of the most sought after in the business. This development will most probably go on for the next couple of years because of ever increasing demand.

And though your pregnant wife will probably tell you that she feels and looks like a fat cow, a hippo, or any other large animal on the planet, there is definitely an element of simple beauty and serenity that can only be seen in a pregnant woman. That's what maternity photography tries to capture and preserve forever.

Once you fully comit to a maternity photography session, don't be afraid to experiment and try several poses, because one of them might produce the most stunning photo.
